About Lesson
To install SSL on a WordPress website, follow these steps:
-
Purchase an SSL certificate from a trusted provider or check if your hosting provider offers a free SSL certificate.
-
Log in to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to the Plugins > Add New page.
-
Search for the “Really Simple SSL” plugin and install and activate it.
-
Once activated, the plugin will automatically detect your SSL certificate and enable HTTPS on your website.
-
Check your website to confirm that it is now using HTTPS instead of HTTP.
-
If your website is still not showing as secure, try clearing your browser cache and cookies or force-refreshing your website.
-
You may also need to update any internal links within your website to use the HTTPS protocol instead of HTTP. You can use a plugin like Better Search Replace to search and replace URLs within your website.
